“Me & You” is a Big Lottery funded project aimed at young people between the ages of 15 to 25 with a physical disability, special need, learning difficulty, behaviourial disorder or debilitating illness. The "Me & You" programme is an opportunity for these young people to discover new interests and learn new skills by engaging in positive outdoor activities in a 'green-blue' environment*.  
 

The "Me & You" project is run in two phases. Stage 1 of the programme comprises of daily sessions run over six weeks and includes 2 sessions of Gardening & Horticulture, 2 sessions of Conservation & Wildlife and 2 sessions of Angling. This phase is funded by the Big Lottery and is therefore free to participants. In the optional Stage 2 of the project each participant decides which subject they would like to focus on and develop over the course of a further 6 weeks.   

The programme and method of teaching focusses on success and continual improvement, Young people are positively encouraged to try new skills - their mastery of which quickly leads to increased self esteem and self confidence along with greater engagement with the outdoor environment and the people around them. Other benefits for the participants include a reduced sense of social isolation, improved health and well being and greater feelings of independence. Gardening on the me and You Project
  For the individuals, participation in the project delivers a wide range of results including;gaining the confidence to share learnt knowledge with other people, the desire to continue putting new skills to good use, the motivation to spend more time outdoors, the inspiration to take on new interests and the awareness to make better decisions for the future. The longer the young people are engaged in the programme, the more pronounced the results.
